Peach's Castle A medium sized level with a long, moving platform at the bottom! This stage is sometimes difficult for bad jumpers like Captain Falcon and Link, because you can't grab any of the edges on the stage. However, light, good jumpers like Kirby and Pikachu are excellent at this stage. There's a bumper that floats around the top of the stage, which can save a life, or ruin a brilliant combo! At the 200% setting, the bumper will kill you almost every time!
There are also two big floating ramps at the ends of Peach's Castle. The bottoms of these blocks are great for bouncing people downwards! Just knock them into the bottom with a powerful move like the Falcon Grab. Players are unable to use the instant recovery move at the slanting parts of the ramps, so use this to your advantage by constantly knocking them on it!
Congo Jungle
Congo Jungle is the darkest stage of all, which makes it good for stealth battles if you have a dark character suit! Its wooden bottom allows players to jump through it. This is useful for people whose third jumps are powerful attacks, like Captain Falcon and Ness. They can leap through the bottom of the stage and blast somebody else to their doom!
The unique feature of Congo Jungle is the floating barrel that moves around below the main platform. This barrel can save countless lives! However, at the 200% setting, getting shot out of the barrel is almost always instant death.
Hyrule Castle
Link's home stage is the second largest in the game! The battles take place on top of the castle in the land of Hyrule. This stage is flat, and is good for projectiles.
An area you should take note of is the space between the steeple on the right and the wall just to the left of the steeple. This is a great area for repeated smash attacks, since you can bounce the other players off the walls, back into your next move! This is also a great refuge area, since you can't easily be killed here because of the two walls. In fact, even the Home Run Bat won't kill you if you manage to bounce off of those two walls!
Another thing to remember are the tornadoes that circulate Hyrule Castle's roof. These will fling you into the background or foreground if you're at a high percentage and are caught by them!
Planet Zebes
This course is one of the most unique ones, since the bottom KO line is covered by an acid that will shoot your character upwards on contact! This makes it a bit more difficult to kill people, since spikes are not as effective as usual. The only completely safe spot from the acid is the very top platform.
A good strategy to win here is to guard the edge! When an opponent is coming back, knock him straight into the acid, and then knock him outwards for him to be in the acid again! The acid is powerful, and can easily kill somebody. When it does, the person who knocked them in there gets a point!
Yoshi's Island
That's right, it's Yoshi's Island! It's a large storybook with three platforms, and 3 clouds off of the stage! The clouds will disappear if you stand on them too long though...Kirby and Pikachu are perhaps the best characters for this, since they can easily leap from cloud to cloud. A good strategy is to grab someone on a cloud, then throw them a little way to the side to the KO line! Then they'll die while they've only been flung a few feet...^_^ Of course, then the cloud will probably disappear by that time. Some character's can't jump from cloud to clouds, like Link and Captain Falcon, so stay away from them if you're these characters!
Dreamland
Ah, it's the smallest and plainest stage of all! Just three floating platforms, with a tree that blows a soft wind...This is a stage where most of the battle takes place in the air, because the stage is so small! Lots of spiking, guarding the edge, and aerial moves are most usual in Dreamland. Unfortunately, there isn't too much special strategy involved in this stage.
Sector Z
Quite the opposite of Dreamland, Sector Z is the largest stage of all! In fact, if two people stand on one end of the ship and two people stand on the other end, the camera view stretches so far back that you can hardly see your character! But since the platform is so large, it's sometimes difficult defeating people, since it's hard to knock them off when they're standing in the center. The best tactics for getting kills in Sector Z are knocking people into the background or foreground, and standing near the edge of the ship, and using conventional tactics there. If you just hang around the center of the ship using moves that knock people horizonatally, it's quite unlikely that you'll manage to get any points. On the other hand, when you're in the center of the stage, you probably won't be killed very easily either.
The special feature in Sector Z is Fox's ship, the Arwing! It shoots extremely powerful twin laser beams at all the players, and swoops around. It can be in the middleground or background, shooting into the stage. When in the middleground, you can actually take a ride on the ship! But don't stand on it too long, since when it flies into the background you'll die!
Ness and Fox have an advantage in Sector Z. Ness can restore major damage when he absorbs the Arwing's blasts, while Fox can use his reflector to rain the shots back on the other players, making them about 50% more powerful at the same time.
Saffron City
A large stage with many pits! It's great for good jumpers like Kirby and Pikachu, but is a weakness stage for bad jumpers like Link and Captain Falcon. Ness doesn't do well here either, since he can't triple jump out of the pits.
Saffron City has a door in the center building that opens up! When it does, a Pokemon sticks their head out and does their special move. Usually it's damaging to your character, but when Chansey appears she'll lay an egg and then heal 5% (if you're near her)!
Use the door Pokemon to your advantage! Just grab a person, but don't throw them, and hold them in front of you! They'll be forced to take all the hits that the Pokemon deals out...Of course, an Electrode would blow you both away, so be careful if it rolls out into the stage.
Mushroom Kingdom
Yes, it's Super Smash Brother's super secret stage! All you have to do to get it is to play all the non-secret stages at least once, and then beat the game with all 8 original characters! This stage has many unique and special features!
There's only one pit in the entire level. It's a small one, but there's a double platform swing like the one in Super Mario Brothers, only bigger! Another thing are the three pipes (also in Super Mario Brothers), that warp you around the stage! One of them is an exit to the bottom of the pit though, so use them with caution. In addition, a POW block (also in Super Mario Brothers 2) randomly appears on the stage. Hit it with almost any attack, and it'll launch anybody standing on the ground upwards!
The Mushroom Kingdom is the only stage where you can walk to the right or left KO line! Since there's no pits surrounding the stage, there's nothing to stop people from walking too far! You can sometimes use this to your advantage! When you see somebody walking out of the screen, run after them, fight with them, and throw them to their doom!
